Freshly Pressed!
I want to create a brief post today to thank the powers-that-be at wordpress.com for choosing my post Neurons and Kayaks for their Freshly Pressed feature, and I want to thank all of you visitors for you kind comments, shared experiences, ‘likes’, and subscriptions! (Research has linked gratitude to happiness* so I’m sure this fits my balance theme somehow!)
Can I tell you a little something? I started this blog just a couple weeks ago, which included a few days figuring out how to work it. I created the first two entries before I shared it with anyone. At that point I took a guarded deep breath and shared it with two trusted loved-ones. I knew the two of them would let me down gently if the blog was tedious or incoherent. Instead they gave me positive feedback so I posted two more times and shared the blog with one more person (daring, I know)! When I got home from my internship yesterday I opened my email and saw that I had 70-some notifications from wordpress.com. What on earth had happened!? A lot of the comments said “congratulations on being freshly pressed”. I have to admit to you… I was baffled. So I did what any confused person of my generation would do. I Googled.
I soon learned about the Freshly Pressed feature and also found a page about why my post was selected. So after a little research yesterday I was (and am) thrilled and flattered to have been Freshly Pressed!
Now that you know how nervously reticent I was before this blog was shared with the world I want to thank you again for so many kind comments. In a medium where anonymity allows us to be as irreverent and cruel as we care to be it is all the more gratifying to see that so many people will choose instead to be gentle and gracious.
And now I’ll get back to the not-so-fun side of balance: my coursework!
